The "Eyes on Jiangsu in the Belt and Road Initiative" media tour concluded on Nov.16th. Co-organized by the Information Office of the Jiangsu provincial government and China Daily, the theme of the event was implementation of the "Belt and Road" strategy, the joining of key economic zones and coordinating of economic cooperation between China and neighboring countries.

As Jiangsu is a geographic intersection of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, from January to September this year, its government's investment in related countries has increased by 92%, about one fourth of its total investment abroad. Meanwhile Jiangsu's foreign trade with "Belt and Road" countries has reached 74.4 billion USD, about one fifth of its total trade figure.

More than 20 reporters from 15 countries joined the group for the tour, including Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, South Korea, Uzbekistan and Spain. During the eight day tour, the group went to Nanjing, Xuzhou, Lianyungang and Suzhou.
In Xuzhou, journalists visited Xuzou Construction Machinery Group, reporting on the overseas business development of the Chinese construction machinery industry.

In Nanjing, the group visited the headquarters of Suning, one of the leading online shopping platforms in China, and talked to a representative about the preparation and after-sale service for Singles Day, the most significant online shopping day for e-commerce sellers and buyers in China.

Besides economic zones and ports, the group visited a heritage park celebrating Zhenghe's voyages, perhaps the starting point of the ancient maritime silk road which underlies the historical origin of the "Belt and Road" strategy.

In Suzhou, the group visited the Dingsheng Silk Corporation. The cloth produced by the company was used for the outfits worn by world leaders during the welcoming dinner of the 2014 APEC Summit. The traditional method of making silk impressed the foreign reporters.

Since 2010, the Eyes of Overseas Media Tour has brought foreign journalists to more than ten provinces in China. As a flagstaff event of China Daily, it has become a platform for comprehensive exchanges between Chinese provinces and the world through in-depth and extensive media coverage.
