Supported by the Chinese State Internet Information Office, this year’s forum is split into three sub ones, covering Constructing the Online Silk Road, E-path strategy and cross-cultural communication and interdependency between 'Internet Plus' and 'One Belt, One Road'.

Host city Zhanjiang, in the southwest of Guangdong province, has the largest deep-water port in South China and is one of the country’s 12 pivotal ports. The city plays an important role in the Maritime Silk Road.
