Chinese travelers are enthusiastic about Greece, said Panos Livadas, general secretary of Greek National Tourism Organization, and recent numbers prove his point.

Statistics show a 57 percent increase in the number of Chinese tourist arrivals in Greece from 2012 to 2013, and the figure jumped roughly 70 percent from last year to 2014.

Tourism is a crucial sector of Greek's economy, accounting for about 20 percent of the country's GDP and one in every six jobs. The increase in Chinese tourists to Greece has played a key role helping the country survive the ongoing economic crisis in Europe.

Livadas, now on his 16th visit to China, said Greece is eager to attract even more Chinese tourists. To facilitate this, the Greek Embassy in China will be opening two more visa application centers in the near to better serve Chinese applicants, Livadas said.

"We offer hospitality from the bottom of our hearts," he said.
