10th Beijing-Tokyo Forum wraps up in Tokyo

The 10th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, themed "peaceful development of Northeast Asia and the mutual responsibilities of China and Japan", wrapped up in Tokyo on September 29, 2014.

Over 500 participants attended the two-day event, which included two general meetings and four panel discussions on the politics, economics, media and security issues of both countries.

Tashiro Muto, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan, Wei Jianguo, general secretary of the China International Economical Communication Center, Yuji Miyamoto, former Japanese ambassador to China, Wu Jianmin, vice-chairman of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, and Gao Anming, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, gave speeches and reports at the closing conference.

Yasushi Kudo, president of Genron NPO announced the Tokyo Consensus and the conclusion of the 10th Beijing-Tokyo Forum. Afterwards, deputies from both sides met the press together.

This year's event marks the 10th of the Beijing-Tokyo Forum held since its founding in 2005 by China Daily and Genron NPO, a Japanese non-profit think tank. The Forum has played an important role in the past 10 years, bridging the two countries through civil interactions.
