The Opposite House introduces BAO HOUSE, the very first food truck in Beijing at the hotel’s north entrance this summer.

The playful baozi food truck is fully operated by the hotel team and has taken a modern, international approach on baos and mantous combined with a traditional culinary steaming method. Guests can enjoy the Chinese entree from noon until 9.30pm every day.

Following a vivid design concept, BAO HOUSE has created some lively cartoon characters with distinctive personalities for some of the prime baos and mantous along with special names. From the opening menu, BAO HOUSE invites guests to try the signature baos with flavours such as The Baofather (Wagyu Beef and Mushroom with Black Truffle), Bao Thai Thai (Thai Pork with Red Curry and Kaffir Lime), BJ Bao (Traditional Pork with Spring Onions) and all the items change seasonally. To adhere to the standard of the finest baos in the world, the baos at BAO HOUSE have more than 18 pleats each.

In addition to baos, guests are also encouraged to try the mouth-watering a-la-second mantous featuring flavours such as Banh Mi Bao (Lemongrass Pork with Pickled Vegetables, Chilli and Coriander), and Beastie Bao (Braised Pork Belly with Pickled Vegetables, Coriander and Crushed Peanuts).

To beat the summer heat, ice-cold drinks are also on the menu with home-made Lemongrass Ice Green Tea, and Slow Boat Brewery, serving Honey Helmsman’s Ale on draft on tap served in stainless steel, double-walled beer mugs. Those looking for something stronger may opt to choose from the cocktail and wine selection.

"We are very excited to bring the first food truck in town. The flour used for both baos and mantous has been carefully selected to produce its white and immaculate appearance. As we go along, we’ll be adding more flavours to the selection, so stay tuned!” says Philipp Blaser, Executive assistant manager of the Opposite House Beijing.
