Increasingly strong relations between China and Greece were recently showcased in an unusaul place – a new Chinese romantic comedy - and no one is more prepared to discuss the odd-seeming match than Greek’s top tourism official.

In recent years, Greece has become one of the 10 most popular destinations for Chinese tourists, according to the travel website Travelzoo. The number of visitors from China to Greece in 2013 increased 60 percent from 2012.

Perhaps evidence of Greece’s emergence as a romantic location, the new film Beijing Love Story is set partly on the pristine Greek island of Santorini.

In an exclusive interview with the China Daily multimedia team, Panos Livadas, general secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization, shared his insights on the close ties and potential cooperation in tourism.

Beijing Love Story might make those relations even closer: will make its official debut in China on February 13, the day before Valentine’s Day.
