China’s Islands - Part 3: The mark of a war

Liugong Island is located in Weihai bay, about 2 nautical miles away from the nearest tourist dock of Weihai city. Since ancient times, Liugong island has been known as the "unsinkable battleship".
It is the birthplace of the first Chinese modern navy: The Beiyang Navy It is also the place where the Beiyang navy was completely annihilated. After the end of the war, Liugong Island was under colonial rule by Britain for 42 years, This small 3.15 square kilometer island has witnessed important moments in Chinese history.
